Project Description

MosaicĀ

Mosaic is a blend of the earlier two communities at Malhar, the idea of being car-free and a loop road which inter-connects all the clusters of the group. Two entry roads on either side of a large, open park lead in to Mosaic, and end where the clusters begin, at the common car parks. This keeps the inner, looping cluster streets free of vehicular movements. From here homes are but a few footsteps away. The natural elevation of the layout adds drama to the terrain with clusters located at varying levels.

Community

Community

The community at Mosaic enjoy manifold green spaces that have indigenous & medicinal plants and trees. They reflect this in their interaction and social network. It is not unfamiliar to see people picking up fresh greens or snipping off a medicinal leaf or two to help with a tummy ache. The large play space with is actually the roof of the basement parking serves as a congregation space for children, adults and old folks alike. While we persist in promoting certain ideas about how people should engage in the community, through the design of the spaces and the aesthetics, in Mosaic we have adapted to the needs of the modern family trying to achieve a balance between traditional values and contemporary ideas.

Architecture

Architecture

The homes are designed to be spacious and functional, ensure optimum light, natural ventilation and privacy. Built around nature, each house has an internal or external courtyard or an open plan looking out to a large rear or a front garden. The layout for homes have been evolved and refined through insights gained from our previous communities and our hands-on engagement with its people. The homes in Mosaic reflect this through the use of subtle detailing and architectural departures to reflect individuality as well as build a sense of belonging to the neighborhood. The spaces are rich in texture, varied in detail and characterised by balconies, verandahs, courtyards and terraces.
