Ecological Restoration

Desertification and climate change are steadily leading us to an environmental and economic crisis.

A large part of the planet is drying up and agriculture is becoming increasingly difficult.

Floods and landslides are common during monsoon, whereas in summer, our streams and wells are drying up. There isn’t enough drinking water in many parts of the world.

The effort required to mitigate and reverse climate change and desertification is massive, there’s no quick fix.

How do we reverse desertification?

According to a Government of India report placed in the parliament,

96

million hectares
of land in India is becoming arid and desertified.

How do we combat it?

The solutions are complex and holistic. It calls for action on the ground. GoodEarth is making an effort in this direction to find designed solutions to manage land and water holistically.
Our effort in

regenerative agriculture

is about rebuilding soil health, sequestering carbon in soil, increasing the water holding capacity of farm lands and sustainable water management.
Apart from this, we have restored an urban lake and gained hands-on skill in design and execution. The result is promising and has benefited the local community.
GoodEarth has started working on two watershed projects; one rural and another urban. The effort is to establish holistic design and management for sustainability of the watershed as a whole, covering water, ecosystems, waste and waste water management along with the functional requirements of agriculture and urban development.
Such projects will take many years to produce tangible results. We hope our learning in design and management inspires youngsters to take up such projects. Our team comprising engineers, geologists, agriculture scientists, and naturalists will document the learning and make it available for all who wish to conserve the environment.
